Okay so like, this is probably the most common question I get! You don't NEED a real piano right away, but it definitely helps. A keyboard with at least 61 keys works totally fine for beginners. Some of my friends started with just 49 keys and they did okay too.

The important thing is that the keys are weighted if possible - it makes it feel more like a real piano. But honestly, don't stress about it too much. Just start with what you have or can afford!
